What are we trying to accomplish? Why is it so important? Who stands to benefit from our interventions? Where would the communities we serve be if our efforts are successful? Where will it be if we are not? If we are serious about solving some of the world’s gravest issues, these are some of the basic questions that nonprofits and donors have an equal obligation to answer. How these answers are implemented is crucial to creating transformational and sustainable impact. Equally importantly is how these answers are conveyed institutionally.
Clarity Hub started first as Clarity Fund. Pioneered by a group of frustrated, but determined, grassroots nonprofit leaders, in collaboration with a selfless group of philanthropic volunteers, Clarity Fund has provided local and start up organizations with a golden opportunity to receive critical donor feedback on the core tenants of their mission statements.
For many Clarity Fund applicants, the feedback received from the volunteer donor panel has led to a dramatic shift in their messaging and engagement, even unlocking larger funding. None of the work or activities in these organizations changed; just the messaging. That is the power of nonprofits and donors better understanding each other, as it is just as essential for donors to be clear in their own messaging, especially for those offering resources to the grassroots space.
With this in mind, the Clarity Index was created to allow those international donors that support at a community level to receive critical feedback from the nonprofit sector in comprehensively constructive ways. Again, created with deep input from both sectors, the Clarity Index will serve to further align donor intent and expectations with the realities on the ground.
Together, Clarity Fund and the Clarity Index form the nexus of the Clarity Hub. This hub will aim to provide resources for nonprofits and donors alike to ensure that no matter what language we speak or where we are from, we can all properly understand each other.
